Tweens & Teens Lessons I Wish I knew (PT2)

IMG_0818Last week, I shared with you I spoke at a young women’s empowerment. I totally ended up talking all about forgiveness and the next thing you know I’m pouring out my testimony.  I promised you I would share how it went so this post is my promised fulfilled.  The event was truly a success. God allowed me to overcome the fear of my past and I shared a list of lessons I wish I had learned growing up.  If you did not get to read my last post Counterfeit Forgiveness & Reaching the Real (PT1) well here it is.

Things I Wish Someone Would Have Taught Me as a Young Girl

Forgive Yourself First: In order to forgive anyone you have to forgive yourself first.

Set Apart: Having a relationship with God will call you to have a set-apart life you won’t be able to do the things everyone is doing. Do not feel left out its okay.

Cast It Down: From the lunch lady down to my adoptive father on countless occasions I would only have success if I worked in the sex industry. Knowing what I know now I would have cast those thoughts down and not believed everything people spoke over me. You can cast down thoughts in your mind without doing it aloud.

Speak Life: Just as I was mentioning in the last point of negative things spoken over you. It is important to speak the word of God over your life. Speak greatness over yourself and let it outweigh the greatness.

Prayer: For many years, I thought prayer was for older people. I was under the impression their prayers went straight to God. However, God is no respecter of person.  Everyone has access to God. You can even pray for others.

Identity: I would have saved so much money and time if I had asked God who I am. We can’t ask people who they think we are we should ask the creator himself

God’s Voice:  You’re not too young to hear God’s voice when I was younger I always felt something in what I thought was my gut but it was God.  Learn how God talks to you so you can know what to do.

Seek wisdom:  As a teenager, you are learning many things but that does not mean you know everything. It is always important to seek out people who are older and can be a support to you.

Who Is God to YOU: Learn who God is for yourself. Do not base your experiences from others. If you do this, you will miss an amazing God.

Thanks for reading treasures God loves you more than you know.

If you have not accepted Jesus in your heart, and you would like to, here is a prayer you can pray. Get connected in a good loving based church.

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen. Prayer is from Dr.Ray Pritchard found
