July’s Monthly Devotional: Give It Back Already

Well, here is a dumb question you might answer if I asked; If you had a company car and decided to pursue a new job, would you have to give the car back? So many people would say “Duh Des that’s not a difficult question. Of course,  I would relinquish the car!” However, why is the same question challenging when God tells you to surrender certain things. We as humans tend to clasp to people, job, opportunities, etc. We just keep holding on.  This can be compared to the people in the wilderness who desired the promised land, yet they couldn’t put down their idols. They still craved access to their past but wanted a new start. You can’t put old wine in a new skin. God requires our full commitment. With that being said, what are you still holding on to which God has asked you to release?  In what areas of your life does this pertain to? Are you still driving the company car; but working at a new place? What must you let go to live in God’s purpose?

Stay Awesome Treasures

If you haven’t accepted Jesus in your heart and you would like to, here’s a prayer you can pray and get connected to a local church.

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen. This prayer is from Dr. Ray Pritchard
