“Girls it’s Time to Rise and Shine” my adopted mother would chant like a rooster crowing bright and early. 3 girls 1 bathroom and no one wants to be the first out of their warm comfy bed. The smell of bacon paired with eggs and grits motivated us just about every Sunday to get up. Putting on our freshly pressed dresses which were laid out the night before was our Sunday morning routine.
Growing up, I didn’t understand the meaning of church to me it was just a Sunday thing where we wore pretty dresses and pretending like we were a perfect family. While routine can be amazing in productivity efforts it doesn’t always work for our relationship with God. We have to open ourselves to new approaches to God in new ways and being available for things outside of our everyday routine. When I use to read the bible if I God shared something with me I would go back to the same verse the very next day with yesterday’s excitement and hope God would give me another piece of revelation. A lot of times this approach didn’t work because of God is the same every day but chooses different styles methods to talk with us. . God wants us to continually search for him, to seek his heart in new ways.
What is a new way you can spend time with the lord today?
If you haven’t accepted Jesus in your heart and you would like to here’s a prayer you can pray and get connected to a local church.
Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life.I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen. This prayer is from Dr.Ray Pritchard found
